Position Description

Title: Legal Project Assistant

Department: Legal

Reports To: SVP and General Counsel

Function: The Legal Project Assistant is an entry level position that provides legal and administrative assistance to RLJ Lodging Trust, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust investing primarily in focused-service hotels. The incumbent assists the Legal Department staff with day-to-day administration, including real estate, finance and corporate transactions and related projects for a 160+ hotel portfolio.

  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper filing systems of corporate and transaction documents and closing binders
  • Assist with corporate entity formation, registration and renewal of company subsidiaries.
  • Assist with ordering and organizing corporate status and formation documents for transactions.
  • Assist with tracking and managing mechanics’ liens
  • Assist with delivery of correspondence and other legal documents to lenders and other business partners
  • Assist with preparation of Board materials, as requested.
  • Create and maintain charts, databases and tables to track pertinent operational and legal information
  • Maintain legal calendar for tracking key dates.
  • Communicate with business partners.
  • Support legal staff with other projects, as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or an equivalent certificate and/or experience
