Assistant Project Manager/Project Coordinator


Position Description

Title: Assistant Project Manager/Project Coordinator

Department: Design and Construction

Reports To: Senior Director, Design and Construction


Function: The Assistant Project Manager supporting the Senior Director is responsible for assisting the Senior Director to manage the design and construction process for RLJ Lodging Trust, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust investing primarily in focused-service hotels. The incumbent supports the Design and Construction team on a variety of functions, including budgeting, financial analysis, scheduling and database preparation and tracking.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Director with the overall design and construction project planning and execution.
  • Assist Senior Director with developing and tracking project schedules and capital expenditures.
  • Assist Senior Director with coordinating due diligence process for new acquisitions.
  • Assist Senior Director with processing of contracts, invoices, lien releases, etc.
  • Assist with the execution of Furniture, Fixture, and Equipment (FF&E) procurement and installation.
  • Organize and prepare meeting minutes and action items to assist Senior Director.
  • Assist Senior Director with preparing financial analyses for development projects.
  • Assist with the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams for development or capital projects
  • Assist Senior Director with due diligence efforts and acquisition efforts.
  • Assist with the coordination of purchasing agents, general managers, asset managers, and other owner entities as required to execute a project.
  • Manage up to 20 properties including, but not limited to, capital plans, emergency field conditions or other as determined by Supervisor.
  • Ensure policies and procedures for office projects are being followed and assist where required
  • Assist Senior Director with document control, filling in all gaps for the Senior Director.
  • Travel with the Senior Director on a monthly bi-weekly basis.
  • Support Design & Construction Team on G Drive navigation
  • Assist the Senior Director with special projects as requested by Senior Vice President
  • Up to 50% travel.

Skills:

  • Ability to monitor compliance with construction, vendor and similar contracts/agreements.
  • Knowledge of construction, lodging, and real estate development.
  • Knowledge of scoping, cost-estimating, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating large multifunctional teams (architects, contractors, consultants and stakeholders).
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint or other industry related scheduling software systems.
  • Good judgment and the business acumen to make well-reasoned decisions with respect to matters arising on a day-to-day basis.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results driven.
  • Consummate professional with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as either a team player or independently, in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing projects to ensure timely deliverables.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent certificate and experience.
  • Knowledgeable with E-Builder, Visio, MS Office Suite, Yardi Voyager (Yardi Asset and Property Management Software) or enterprise accounting / project management systems.

Experience:

  • 5-8 Years of lodging industry experience and specific knowledge of brand requirements.
